It also says that more than half will be spent on education, which in that part of the world can only be a good thing.
Not when their culture prevents women from receiving a worthwhile education. Keep in mind education in that part of the world is usually heavily influenced by their religion which it seems everyone translates for the progression of their own ideals which is how they got in this mess to begin with...

Amen to that one candy...

Im an american and for the most part i like this country but our government certainly makes us look like a bunch of bumbling idiots. Not only that, but to many people in this country have a superiority complex that only seems to give as a worst reputtion around the world.

Sorry to sound rude, but I'm going to say it... Shut Up! Do you know what it's like there, have you been? Or have you seen it on the news, you know, You think they show you all the nice places, No! Just the places that aren't doing so well...

The way I see it, Like Shane, has said, Countries should sort their own problems out. Fair enough, if they've had a natural disaster, then give them money, food, water all that stuff. It'll help them out! But, this isn't about that, this is about Schools, War and the like... If they keep accepting money off us, when are they going to learn how to help themselves!?

Another very valid point.
The US are never going to be able to make Iraq or Afghanistan totally stable unless they completely take over. There is always going to be some unrest in my opinion.

And forgive me if im wrong Kornowski and you werent talking about me but my name is Michael, not Shane lol (im confused, someone may have made the same point though)

Agreed, the UK must stop acting like a Super Power, we are now going to spend 3 billion on 2 new Aircraft carriers. This is money that could do so much for our own people.
I never hear of the United Emirates making cash donations in these circumstances, it's always the countries that can ill afford it. Then again we don't know the underlying reason why we need to prop up these countries, I think it's politically driven by greed and domination not on humanitarian grounds and as always it's the ordinary person that suffers most.

problem is uk is a kind of super power, not quite like the U.S. is, but different. the U.S. has a few ideals and an ungodly-sized military. i think of UK as something that the world wants and needs instead of a governing power. its not exactly population or wealth, but position and relations.

at least thats how i see it, you can blame the times magazine if you disagree lmao.

The UK's Military is pretty good, not the size of the US', but non the less, great.

yeah i didnt say anything about the british military because frankly i know almost nothing about it.

hell one of the reasons i know about the special air service is because of call of duty 4, so i didnt want to make assumptions.
