Question VHS to DVD

Hi, im quite new to all this computer thing but have a reasonable understanding of most things as have been doing alot of reading up on things. My question that I have got is I want to put my old VHS tapes on to DVD what do I need in the way of video/graphic/capture card (are they all the same) my VCR has only got an normal TV output so does my card need an TV ouput. I have all the normal windows software and Nero installed on my PC are they up to the job. Any advice and hints greatfully recieved.

Cheap, effective, and comes with the software you need.
Hauppauge is another good brand and also Pinnacle.
Here is a guide:

Once you start the process, I would leave the PC alone until it has finished.
The conversion process is very CPU intensive.

Oh. I highly suggest finding a VCR with composite outputs (red, white, yellow outputs).
The video quality will be better than using the tuner output/input and you won't loose the stereo signal between the VCR and the tuner card (characteristics of the 75ohm cable).

The process I chose to convert my VHS tapes to DVD was to purchase a combination VCR/DVD Recorder unit. You put the tape in one side and a blank DVD in the other side and dub the video over. If I then want to edit the video, I copy the files in the DVD onto my hard drive and go from there. It has been a good process for me.
