Ok, sometimes (NOT all the time) when I boot up into Vista Ultimate x64, I put in my password to log on and I get a "MEMORY MANAGEMENT" Blue screen. It restarts automatically. I figured I'd let it sit at the log on screen to see if me putting in my password triggers the error or not.
After 5 seconds, I got a "Page fault not at paged area" (something like that), it restarted quickly. It booted again, and I let it sit to see what happens. I got another Blue screen which said "trying to write to read only memory". That was also a quick one. I disconnected the power for about 15 seconds to drain all the power out of the motherboard and then it booted fine. This has been happening since I got the new ram. I know the ram ISN'T defective because it works great when there is only 4GB in the system. Once I put 6 or 8 GB back in, I get the "MEMORY MANAGEMENT" blue screen. I do get the error in safe mode as well. I've done ram tests and swapped every stick to ensure that one stick isn't bad. I tested it on the exact system with a different motherboard and it worked fine for about an hour. The only thing is is that it works on my system for days at a time and then out of nowhere, I start getting these blue screens until I disconnect the power and try again. I don't want to go back to XP, but this is definitely strange. I have all the updates as well. I tried underclocking the ram in the bios to 6-6-6, but it didn't work. I also read that the DG33TL is picky when it comes to memory, but I figured that this is high quality performance memory so it should definitely work. If any of you computer guru's out there can fix this, you're my hero. Comp Specs: Intel DG33TL Mobo Q6600 Core 2 Quad proc E-VGA 8800GT Video Card 8GB Adata DDR2 800 MHz Ram 500 GB SATA Caviar HD Thanks, Brett |
