I got a laptop for my birthday, well my mom has a desktop computer, running windows xp professional. We had DSL, and I had the modem connected to the desktop computer with a USB cable. When we got my laptop we got a router with it, for both of us to have internet, which is all just ethernet ports. I plugged in a brand new ethernet cable into the back of the desktop ethernet port, and it wouldnt work, but I know its not the cord because its plugged into my laptop now (my wireless internet is messed up).
What is the problem and can anyone help? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. |

It's possible that the network connection for the lan is disabled or the driver isn't installed. Look in device manager for any devices that aren't installed properly. If everything seems ok then go into network connections and verify that the lan connection is enabled.
