I need a CPU cooler that has this

Hey guys

Im looking for a CPU cooler, but i want it to have these specs

According to the properties of Metal (metallurgy), copper is a better conductor, and aluminium dissapates heat better

So that means, It is better to have a copper base, and aluminium fins

Now i found the perfect cooler in terms of metals, the Thermaltake Blue Orb II, its got a copper base, but an aluminium body (fins)

But it is 838g. 338g more than the reccomended 500g.

Another bad thing is, that it doesnt have a good height clearance.

Now another heater I have found, is the Zalman 7500 AlCu

It is has perfect construction, good height clearance and all, but it has an aluminium base.

Im looking for a cooler,that is like the stock, like the 7500 or blue orb II

I want it to have a copper base, aluminium fins, lighter than 600g (I dont want my mobo to bend), and i want it to have a good height clearance and i want the fan to be about 110mm (not too big to be touching everything).

Is there anything like this, I know im being picky but its what i need.

I was wondering the same thing, i have always taken that copper is better, which is why its used in the high end coolers, heatpipes, good waterblocks, etc. The copper still has to disappate the heat to the aluminum somehow, and if what your saying is true, than a full aluminum cooler would cool more effectively than a copper & aluminum, or pure copper heatsink. But i recommend any of the coolers that have the heatpipes exposed, such as the xigmatek-S1283, the vendetta 2, etc. There is a model with a 92mm fan that can be replaced with a higher speed 92 mm fan, such as a scythe, and there is an optional backplate available for bolt through mounting. I would recommend reading the wikipedia on heatsinks, which also explains that a better heat conducter(ex- Copper) makes a better heatsink.

Those heatsinks are all very old. You should check out newer models.

a bit over your weight limit, but then again all high performance heatsinks are heavy.

I want the fan parralel to the mobo, not perpendicular (like the 9700 etc)

Yes, copper conducts better, meaning it draws heat more easily, but, aluminium dissapaes heat better (meaning it does conduct heat well, but it lets the heat go easier than copper)

So thats why its better to have a copper base, aluminium fins.

And as i said, i want it to have the same design as stated, not a tower.

Something like thiis style

The reason is cause i cos, a side case fan, blowing cold air into the stock cooler with the funnel attached, its dropped my temps by 10*

Can you imagine witha aftermarket cooler of the same design

I'd say just go with the 8700. If you look around, every single high end modeled heatsinks are copper finned. All Zalman lower end models use aluminum or half aluminum fans. I believe with air flow copper beats aluminum.

No it doesn't. In the case of steady-state conduction, which is generally what is important for computer applications, the only property that matters is the thermal conductivity. For transient conduction the important property is thermal diffusivity (k/rho-cp) - a high thermal diffusivity material will react quickly to a changing external temperature (this can all be proven by the heat equation). Copper still has a thermal diffusivity about 20% higher than aluminum. So copper is better in every respect. It's just more expensive and harder to machine, so aluminum is used often instead.

But also copper is so much heavier.

What heatsing do you recommend, that uses the style im looking for (not a a tower)

Actually if you have a rear exhaust fan a tower heatsink is best, but for the style you are looking for, i would also recommend the 8700(the copper one, not the nickle plated one),but i still recommend tower coolers for their effeciency, but the 8700 seems to be the best cooler within your specs.

the copper one weighs about 1kg.... too much

And as i said before, I want a normal style, not a tower.

The reason is cause i have fresh, COLD air being fed to my current stock Intel CPU HSF, and my temps have dropped by 10*

My CPU is running at 25* Idle, 50* max (playing COD 4 for like 3 hours)

So thats why i want the same style, as I will get even better results....
