I'd try and get 64-bit vista. It runs better than the 32-bit.

Not many programs are supported by Vista 64-bit let alone Vista 32-bit.

Actually, software support, at least for Vista 32-bit, has been pretty much resolved.

And Vista 64-bit has much better support than XP 64 ever did.

If you can, upgrade the hard drive, other than that, it's great for the price.

I disagree, all the software I've tested that runs on Vista 32 bit also runs on Vista 64 bit.

All things aside, I'd say that was a good buy. HP computers are a bit better than, say, Dell - but - I have a Compaq machine (HP) that has a Samsung hard drive instead of a Seagate, a no-name 250W power supply instead of at least a no name 350W.

great deal. usually you can't get a laptop with a dedicated gpu for that price even if it's only a 8400.

About the right price...
Only downside is small HDD, but you can get an external anyway (Useful when you want to transfer files from friend's PC)
