I'm not quite sure what you are asking.

Are you wanting to delete an icon on your desktop or are you wanting just to hide it?

Mate, open a folder, click tools, folder options, go to the "View" tab, and select the box "Do not show hidden files".

Then right click on the file you want to hide, click on properties, and tick the "Hidden" box at the attributes section. The file will hide.

Then if you ever want it back, go back into a folder, to tools, folder options, "View" tab, then tick the box "Show hidden files".

Think that's what your looking for......!

i guess what i am trying to do is...um..... when you make shortcuts on the screen so that you can just click them to open the program (like the recycle bin). i want to do that but like hide it so that it has no name or picture to it (like in the recycle bin's case it has a picture of the trash can and the name below it "Recycle Bin") i want to get it so that i can hide it but still have the short cut like in the corner of the screen so i can still click it but no one will know it is there but me unless i tell them. i hope i made it clearer this time. sorry if i didn't

Yes that gets of the icon but it also screwes up duel screen setups and you cant click them. What you nead to do is make a transparent image and replace the image with the transparent one you made and dont give it a name. Unfortunutly that only works for files and not the recycle bin.
