Default why so slow

Hey guys, im definately no computer guru here, im in the army stationed here in japan, and took my computer for some upgrade to a computer shop. Now, mind you this computer is equipped with some pretty highspeed equipment, but for some reason it would not play video games worth a damn. So I upgrade the Graphics gard to a GeoForce 8500. And still its somewhat glitchy. Here are the specs:

2048mb of Ram
Athlon 64 dual core processor
Geoforce ASUS 8500 graphics card
750 Gigs

Sense Im not at home I kinda winged those specs, so work with me a little here. Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on why im not getting maximum, or atleast above average performance? Thanks

Not trying to blow your bubble but a 8500 is a low/mid end video card.

Yea, my laptop has a better card.

An amd dual core is also not a good idea for a gaming computer..

the video card is the letdown if you're trying to play games like crysis.

1. intel dual core > amd dual core
2. intel/amd quad > amd dual core
3. He did not list the speed
4. The athlon-64, not 64x2, was released in 2003. The latest model I could find was from 2006.

So don't call my statements "crap"

None of that proved anything, I,ve been doing this since before you were born. CRAP-CRAP. AMD had Intel pawned for 6 years on clock speed till the Core 2 was released. And just because Intel Core 2 is faster Clock for Clock doesnt mean AMD is not good idea for gaming. Just like I guess everybody that bought P4 were just plain stupid because the XP Athlon/Athlon 64 was faster.

Whoa........waaaaaaaaaay too many acronyms. So my graphics card is shit (which i just bought for 113 from a japanese guy), and the processor is not too snuff. BUT, im only playing world of warcraft, from my understanding the graphics on this game are pretty outdated right? It shouldnt require some highend graphics card to run smoothely?
