dial up connection

hey all! im a noob here and iv read the 'conditions of use' etc but if im goin about soemthing in the wrong way, giv me a yell...

iv recently got a desktop comp with vista on it, E6300 processor, 1 gb ram and...56k Dylink modem (yes, you probably hav nevr heard of these modems)

thing is, i can't get it to connect to the net...run setup wizard etc no prob...my ISP is no use...i think its obviously something to do with config (cos i switchd the modem with another one i KNOW works to no avail)...

iv got XP prof on my old computer and THAT internet works fine...its jsut the vista one thats been having probs....and yes, that modem is supported in vista (which was a big surprise since wer' all in broadband now...)

any hints?

Did your ISP give you a setup disk???

...and there in lies the problem...the cd that they gave me is not compatible with vista...iv tried opening the setup.exe under windows xp compatibility mode (cos it workd fine on my xp computer) but it still didnt work
