8800GT in terms of pure performance ( most FPS)

9600GT in terms of Price to performance (most bang for your buck)

And if you are looking to SLi in the near future, 9600GT gives your more performance. But if it's just a single card then 8800GT is faster.

DDR3 memory on graphics card have absolutely no relationship between your motherboard nor your PCI-E slot.
