Question Flickering Screen

So I'm on the family computer (which is a really old Desktop. Um.. looks like an Acer - or at least, that's what the moniter says- and has a Nvidia Geforce 6150 video card. It also has (just in case it's relevant to the problem):

AMD athlon 64 processor 3200+
2.01 Ghz
448 mb RAM

So, the moniter is flickering in the weirdest way.... It looks like when T.V's get interference or VCR's don't work properly; it pulls the words sideways. The entire screen is being pulled sideways. It flickers up and down, even on the little black areas around the windows where the white of the window is pulled into the blackness. It looks all pixellated too.

The computer insists the video card is working properly so what's going on?

* I hope I explained it properly...

Well... I THINK it's about four years now. It's a reeeally old computer (I didn't know how much RAM it had before and now I'm laughing because it's sad). Would four years be old for a computer?

I would say the monitor is shot. If you have another monitor try it.

well I think it was the history channel (lol) and I can't remember if it was 2 or 4 years but I heard somewhere that a 2yr. old computer is equal to a 10yr old car cause technology changes so rapidly. so if I am correct and it's 2yrs then your computer is considered 20yrs old in car years which is a classic

Too bad I can't get money for a classic monitor

We do have another monitor but it's freaking huge and would never fit on the desk. I think we might as well go buy a new one...
