Default Cleaning up my computer?

After years of using an unupdated 2008 Norton Antivirus I recently installed AVG Free, Comodo Firewall PRO & Spybot S&D. To be honest, I dont know much about computers. I have removed all threats and because my computer is still somewhat slow, Im planning to install Cleanup! And Ccleaner. Before I do that, do i need to take any precautions? Like backup my registry or smth? And if so how do I do that?

CCleaner has an option to backup your registry before cleaning it. You dont have to do this manually.

Definitely download CCleaner. Before you do create a restore point just in case, run the program and it'll clean your computer. The first time I used it, it found 1.5GB of crap and I keep my computer fairly clean, then run the registry but use the back-up option they have.
