Hi All.
Im doing a new build soon, now ive got these prices. Q6700 - $406 Q9300 - $372 Now I know the Q9300 is only 2.5ghz and the Q6700 is 2.66ghz, but the Q9300 is 45n, whilst the Q6700 is 65n. Which one should I get, im leaning towards the Q9300 but the Q6700 being more expensive im wondering if Im missing something? Cheers

Well i had a look at them both on newegg for the specs.
I would go for the Q6700, because of the cache and the speed.

Oh ok. What does cache do to increase performance? I thought 45n was the way of the future lol.

Also, I was looking at cpu performance chart and the Q9300 was slightly better, so Ive got another question.
If I wanted to do a slight Overclock not heaps like nothing that requires heaps of cooling, maybe even just overclocking with the stock fan/heatsink. Maybe up to 3ghz or something. Which one is easy/gets more performance? I was thinking of getting a zalman 9700 too to make this easyer, has fast could I crank them stable with the Zalman?

First of all, those prices seem pretty outrageous, where are you buying from?
For overclocking, the Q6700 should be better. You would probably hit 3.5, maybe even 4 with a Zalman. It has a 10x multiplier which should help.

Um, I just bought the Q6700 for $270.00 on Newegg.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115027 Its a great processor, but for me it has not done a great job at overclocking, my PC wouldn't start when I tried for 3.0Ghz. But it's most likely my motherboard/RAM holding me back.

Are you buying it from a U.S.-based store/website? If you are, those prices are extremely high for the items.

id go Q9300
45nm = less heat = better overclocking.
