Thumbs up Choosing CPU for my bro

My brother has asked me to build a good pc that can make games like COD4 and UT3 look pretty, soo I've decided to get him a HD3850, a p5K-e mobo (haven't really decided. So if anyone has suggestions on a value board please comment), and I have'nt decided what processor. The problem is that I don't wanna put too much money into it cuz I'm looking at the 500$ range (maybe a few bucks more). I've been searching on google and the forum but no luck. If you find any information I'll gladly read it (or watch or listen).

Everyone says intel FTW (probably cuz its true). What processor do you recommend that costs 1-125$?? that has a good money/performance ratio
