Talking Laptop with decent battery life.

Ok so im looking for a Laptop that has a decent battery life.

Not that long ago my mum got a Compaq and the battery only lasted around 2 hours. that is no where near enough.
is it possible to get one that lasts 6-7-8 hours or more?

nevermind the price, is there anything like that which is decent?

i was wanting a nice screen and all that but that will be using up more battery so ill have to settle for a smaller screen right?

can someone please guide me as to a decent laptop for that?

thankyou

That's very rare to find in laptops, 2-3 hours is about the norm for gaming laptops as well as budget laptops. Some very cheap laptops (under $500-$600 usually) only have batteries that last for 1-2 hours.

It depends what you want to be doing though, my previous Dell could last up to 6-6.5 hours, but that was when I wasn't doing anything, brightness all the way down, and WiFi off. That was on a 9-cell battery and a 15.4" screen.

You could get an external battery life, but they are expensive. I would say the average amount of battery a 15.4 inch laptop with average specs and average settings and a 6 cell battery would get, would be about two and a half hours.

Some laptops can get up to 5 hours.

If you completely flatten the battery and the charge it full and do that for around a week, you'll notice a difference. Also, the lower brightness on the screen, the less battery it uses up.

i will not be gaming on it. the laptop would be for business. word processing. browsing and so on.

i dont mind paying more for a 9 cell battery if that will help. is that the best i can get?

wow cleric thats for that link. should help heaps.

basically because im not doing anything too demanding... the performance doesnt matter so much. however a 17" screen would be nice. but i guess that isnt practical if your wanting long battery life right?

i had a look at cleric's link, the cpu's seem to be very slow, which i understand will help battery life. but still...
i think 11 hours of battery is more then enough...
id rather get say... 6 hours of battery life... and have a better cpu and bigger screen.

some of those were 12" or less

is there anything in between?

for example... the toshiba laptop has a 6 cell battery.
and yet has 11 hours battery life. could i get a 15.4 inch screen laptop and a 9 cell battery and have it run like 6-7 hours?

The MacBook with 6-cell lasts around 3-4 hours, I'd imagine if you could get an 8/9 cell you could get it up to around 6 hours.
