reset modem and router

okay, so, i don;t know what my brother did, cause i wasnt here when it happened, but he did something so that we could connect to the internet. so, i tried reseting the router by cutting the power for 30 seconds. but that didnt work. with no other help (since my internet was down) i had no choice but to completely reset my modem and router...so, now my router sends out an unprotected wireless signal. how can i create my ssid again with a wpa encryption? my router isnt conected to my computer, so i can go to 192.168.1.1 to configure it.

connect to your router, going to the Wireless settings and add the password.

You can access the router, on any PC, as long as it has network access.

okay, different problem:

i reset the settings, so i have an unencrypted connection named dlink. but when i went to change the ssid and set an encryption key, i couldnt access the internet anymore. like, my computer still connects to the network, by anything internet based wont connect.
