Have you got router?
If you have a 4 port router this will make it easy, you will need to make sure your laptop and computer has a network card then you will need 2 cat5 cables with RJ45 ends. plug the computer and laptop into the router via the cat5 cable Make sure the router is giving out DCHP so both laptop and computer get there ip address from the router Any problems let me know

Buy a hub or a switch (go for a switch), but a router is the better wait to go.

If you are thinking abo getting a swicth this is going to make your life a lot harder, you will have to setup static ip's setup setup DNS ... ect
If you just get a router it will do it all for you ![]() if you still want to go and get a switch the best makes are Netgear and 3Com both should be around the same price as a router.

you can use a crossover cable like krishananda said... or best is to buy a linksys router from bestbuy for like 50 bux.. it will have a 4 port switch built into it and also have wireless which is the best way to go... with crossover it will be more difficult to get internet on both computers... with a router u can have multiple computers on the internet also
