Exclamation No wireless networks in range!

I am running windows xp sp2 with a netgear wg311T wireless network adapter and a billion myguard7202G wireless router. I am veritably inches from the router but windows cannot find any wireless networks and the wireless works fine on my two vista laptops. I am broadcasting SSID and have WEP enabled. There are no options for WAN/WLAN in my BIOS and the system works fine when connected by ethernet cable but i am wanting to shift my furniture and this would mean i would be running a cable under a rug which i don't want to do, which is why i'm so desperate to set up wireless! any help would be HUGELY APPRECIATED!!!!!!
