Default Backing up Sony Vaio AW

Recently I have not been able to boot my laptop past the 'green bar' loading screen. I have tried system repair and system restore (both with no result).

I have arranged for Sony to pick up my laptop for repair, but I have no backup of some personal files on the 2 HDDs. Is there any way I can back up C:/ and D:/ drives to an external drive or blu-ray dvd via the System Repair command prompt (or any other way, via network maybe)?

I have no real experience using command prompt for any technical use, so I will need full detail if possible.

Thanks for any help,

d-d

My laptop is being collected on 30/Jun/09 so speedy replies very much appreciated
