Since USB headphones are a seperate device, not controlled by your sound card, your computer treats it as a second sound device. Your situation would be no different than say having two PCI sound cards. In Vista/7 you can go into playback devices and choose which is your primary device but AFAIK you can't output to two seperate sound devices. If the specific program allows you to change which sound device is used then you could theoretically hear game music through speakers and only player voices through your headset. An example of this would be to use speakers for your games and setup a Ventrilo server, Vent allows you to choose where it outputs the voices to so you could choose your headset even while Vista/7 still has the speakers as primary.

there shouldn't be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
