Default video files

Please help someone,

I have some avi video files that are now lnk files. I can't open the lnk files now to view my video files. I need someone's help to get these lnk files back to video files so I can view them. Is there something in windows or a new program to resolve this issue. I would like to view these files.

How in the world did you manage to change an .avi file to a completely different format?

I have no idea how it happened. It has been a while since it happened. I just need a fix to resolve the problem.

Ink files are shortcuts, not actual files

lnk. files are not your video files, they are shortcuts. Somehow your video files have had shortcuts placed to them and the file association has been screwed up.

download the LNK (Shortcut) File Association Fix from http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

unzip it then right click the .reg file and choose merge. Reboot.

im not doubting what jdbennet said. How big are the files. AVI sucks. its about as bad as it gets for quality. If the size of the files is say 50k then it is a shortcut. My suggestion was maybe if the files are larger you might be able to rename the extention avi. just an idea.
good luck.
