Hello, I am planing to buy a complete system and I am looking for the "best bang for the buck".

Let me start off with what I plan on getting.

Ok now my question is will I be able to take advantage of the SATA II speeds in a RAID 0 configuration or a RAID 5 configuration or both with this motherboard?

Also if I can run both RAID 0 and RAID 5 at SATA II speeds I would use two HDs (#3 on list) for RAID 0 or four HDs (#2 on list) for RAID 5. Now would the RAID 5 array be faster then the RAID 0? If not would it be worth the sacrifice in speed for the reliability?

You wont be able to do RAID5 so from that list, i'd pick RAID0. Read the RAID101

And to answer the SATA-II aspect ... no. Damn near nothin will reach SATA-II speeds.

Why can't I run a RAID 5 configureation? The mobo supports it.

I read the RAID 101 thing and I did not see any info on RAID 5 vs. RAID 0 "stats" eg. faster? slower?

Is it true that the more HDs that you have in RAID 5 the faster the read and write speed will be?

If that is so, how many would I need to exceed the performance of RAID 0?

Why do you need 4 hard drives in a stripped config? I would put two in RAID 0 and the other 2 in RAID 1
