toshiba DVD problem

I bought a laptop CL56 eith toshiba SD_R6372 DVR RW, the problem is that when open nero 6 ultra edition, on disk info it doesn't show availaible free space on dvd disk, while the disk is inserted,so i can't burn dvd, what is surprisingly it it everythin ok wiht normal cd, i can burn them,
I've checked all the drivers are instaled, so if anybody could help me i would appreciatte

I know nero allows you to change between a dvd and a cd type. In the upper right hand corner of the ultra edition software program you can choose cd or dvd... Try that.
