Default How do you remove the extensions?

The extensions are not very helpful to me and the name of every file on my computer always has the extension at its end *.exe, .zip, .rar, etc* how do u hide these extensions?

open up my documents. click tools > folder options > view > hide extensions for known file types

Thank god! I thought it was just windows XP,I WANTED those file extentions, XP automaticly dosn't show them. It makes it eair to change some file types, rename the extention. it works with alot of pictures.
