Default webcams for security?

I want to be able to view the coming and goings of my children while I am work. They are good eggs but want to keep everything on the up and up with them.

Having never used a webcam before could I simply sign into Yahoo chat turn it on in the morning and watch it from my work computer?

Or would I need to get some sort of motion activated camera that records to a hard drive? If so what are some inexpensive alternatives?

Feel free to email me at my email if you prefer not to post this publicly.

Thanks

why not just use a real CCD that connects through cat5 for ease of installation etc.

Use a keylogger. It shows all the sites visited and it's nearly invisible on the computer..

Default WebCam

I would use a web cam. Here is one I have installed in the past, that is quick and easy, and around your price range. It also functions well in low lighting, since it has night vision capabilities.

Hope this helps,
