Default Nikon D90 Released!

The Nikon D90 has finally been released and it looks awesome!

Here's some specs:

  • 12.3 megapixels

  • D-movie function

  • High ISO/low-noise performance

  • 4.5 frames per second
  • 3 inch, 920dot LCD with Live View
  • Pop up flash with ‘commander’ mode to interface with Nikon's lighting system
  • GPS tagging

The two features that stick out the most at me (although they're not really that important, but just because as far as I know they are a first in a DSLR) are the Movie mode (which shoots up to 720p HD (1280 x 720 pixels)) at 24 fps and the GPS geotagging.

Check out the Nikon website: http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Ni...25446/D90.html

Too bad it doesn't shoot video at 30FPS, but I guess it's fine if you leave your camcorder home and want to make a quick video.

The Canon 50D seems to have better specs

Although, I have to admit, the video feature is pretty neat. Good move on Nikons part IMO.

More Megapixel doesn't mean better SLR

In fact the D90 has the High ISO option (ISO6400) that the 50d doesn't have.

Ummm...When did I EVER say anything about higher MP meaning better SLR? Dont even go there.

The 50D also has a higer FPS, 1/4000 faster shutter speed (up to 1/8000),

Also, the 50D CAN do ISO 6400, it can even do ISO 12800.
50D
ISO:
Auto ISO (100-6400)
Basic Zone modes (ISO 100-3200)
High Tone Priority mode(ISO 200-1600)
Extension mode (ISO 12800 with C.Fn.I-3-1)

I'm not saying that the 50D blows away the D90 in at all, I think they are both great cameras and each one has it's advantages and diss-advantages. But I think the 50D is slightly better.

No need to feel offended, wasn't insulting your intelligence...

Anyways let's just say both have they're goods and bads, don't want to get in a fight.

What about "If you have a Nikon D90 you win $1,000,000!" day?
