Default hard drive install help needed! Please!

I just bought the wd scorpio eide 160 gb model number wd1600vertl. I just put the drive into my hp pavillion dv5000. Im having alittle trouble completing the installation. I installed the hard drive and put in my operating system disc..everything installs ok the it says Windows starting.. and then the laptop shuts off. When I try to boot it without the disc in it comes up with my original RealTek Error. I went into BIOS and ran the HDD test..it passes both of them.

Can anyone pleasssssse help me?! Im going crazy trying to get my baby back running!

usually you can right click on the hard drive when it shows up on MY COMPUTER and it should say format. I think your spose to format before you ever try to save anything. I think

Are you sure the cables are connected properly for the hard drive.
