Default Dell Dimension

I believe it's a Dimension 4500, sorry if I'm wrong.

But to the point. At school in IT class we're kind of sorta working on a teacher's computer. He got completely owned with that spyware that gets attached to a video and tells you that you have this many viruses and such and wants you to scan and that completely owns your computer. Well we pulled the files off of it that they wanted, reformatted it, and use the Dell driver disc to get the graphics card, motherboard, audio, and LAN drivers.

The problem is, the internet refuses to work. There are two different drivers it seems, well three if you count the modem card one. But for onboard there is an Intel 10/100mbps driver and an extreme net gigbyte one. I've tried both but the internet won't work. If it helps any, in device manager the network card has a yellow question mark with an exclamation point over it.

Download the intel driver, its most likely that one or you can punch in the service tag number and get the correct download.

We tried that in class. The only driver we found was for the modem card, which was of no use to us.

Is the network card a separate pci card or is it integrated into the motherboard? I have the 4500 as well and mine is a separate card. You might have to take the card out and look at it to find a label on it and find the driver for it.

The one for a regular ethernet cord is integrated, but the modem card is separate.
