Default Disabling SATA in HP dv6000

Hi all
I am having a dv6000 with win vista home pre. i was trying to downgrade it to win xp, but couldn't do so i am getting a msg that there is no HDD i searchec for sol in net and came to know that i need to disable SATA before installing XP, i searched through the setup (BIOS) but couldn't find any option to disable SATA,
can anyone help
