Default ITouch Gen1 or Gen2?

well i have this choice. my birthday is coming up in about a month and i plan on getting an ITouch. My main problem is deciding which one i want though! the first generation can be jailbroken, which i have heard is a huge plus. but the second generation is slimmer, has a better battery, and has a speaker.

so what do i choose???

all opinions are welcome.

EDIT: of course, i should say what i will be using it for. i have a few gigs of movies that will be placed on it, as well as about 4 gigs of music. I watch movies on long trips using my env2 but the screen is small and it requires a 2.5mm headphone jack that can be expensive.

i watched a video on youtube on PCWorld's channel and they say the 2nd Gen is good and is a must buy. people who have the 1st gen, don't really need to buy the 2nd gen so they say. so if you're out for a new one, get the 2nd gen.

Yeah, the newer one looks sweet....i didnt realize you cant jailbreak the 2nd gen. Im sure they'll eventually figure it out, they always do. I've had my eyes on the newer one...just wish they had a refurbished model availible. Anyone know how long it will be until yo ucan buy them refurbished?

But if plan to watch movies, the longer battery life would be a huge plus.

I just got a brand new 8gig touch today for free. Finally some decent swag from a vendor. Guess that's a perk of working with and over seeing 6 million dollars of Apple equipment.

I just now got done copying about 40 gigs of music over to my Mac desktop and about to sync up my ipod for the first time. The only app I have downloaded so far is pandora, which is an awesome streaming music website.

I want to jail break it so I can load remote desktop and the terminal on it and remotely manage my Macs from my iPod touch.

It also makes me want to get an iPhone now....but AT&T sucks a fat one and I won't pay $600 for a phone nor will I buy into an AT&T contract. Once it just becomes a GSM phone or I can get a 3G NIB for say $300 I will buy one.

I may get the Gphone google has with T-Mobile at the moment. I want to play with one first.
