Default Can't power up laptop?

I can't boot up my laptop at all. Help please?
Okay, long story short, I got a free used Toshiba 6100 and it won't boot up. It was connected to AC but that didn't help. All that turns on is a blinking orange LCD at the bottom. When I try to power it on, the greenish/yellowish LCD turns on, but the turns off and the orange starts to blink. There's no physical damage whatsoever (that I can see), but it is in good condition. I hope I can get it to work. Please, if you have any suggestions as to what the problem may be or what I can do to fix it, let me know. Again, it's not mine, it was given to my Dad by his friend, and he gave it to me. So there's no warranty or anything available. Thanks for the help, it's greatly appreciated. -Len-

Are you connected to AC or are you trying to run off of batteries?

Try taking out the battery and starting up. And also, what little orange button? The power button?

Oh, an LED light? That's probably just the light that tells you your AC adapter is plugged in.
