Default Can't access random sites

Ok, some may have seen my thread about MSN spaces, but i have just worked out that the problem i am having is nothing to do with MSN spaces. For some reason, i can also not access Airliners.net or Expedia.co.uk, even though other people have no problems with them.

But i was just on expedia and for some reason it went all slow and then just went to "Page cannot be displayed" exactly like the other two, which i havent been able to access for a week at least. However i have no problem with any other sites.

I don't know why it does it, as far as i am aware nothing happened while i was on these sites, but whenever i try and access them, it thinks for about 15 seconds and then goes onto "Page Cannot be displayed," every single time. It seems like if i dont get it sorted then it'll eventually happen to all the sites that i go on.

Now the problem seems to have occured only since i have had wireless internet on my laptop, when i just had normal broadband on my PC, i had no problems. However, now it is all connected, what i cant access on my laptop i can't access on my main computer, so i have no way of getting to these sites (not that it bothers me too much except with MSN spaces - but im just using them as it has happened to them). Can somebody please tell me what's going wrong her, and what i can do to stop it?

Thanks
Stephen

I guess you are using a wireless modem router? If so you could have your firewall in your router set up wrong.... stopping certain sites...

What firewall are you using? Some firewalls block access to secure sites which will cause the "Page cannot be displayed" message to appear. This happened to me awhile back, and had to configure my firewall correctly to prevent this from happening.

Sounds like a DNS or firewall issue, if you turn off any and all firewalls and you still have the problem, call your ISP and get some different DNS to try, see if that helps. (you may only be hitting your DNS intermittantly,... for a variety of possible reasons).

Edit: better yet, open a command prompt and type ipconfig /all then note the ip's of your DNS and type tracert xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (x=your DNS IP's). now wait and watch at what point your trace starts to time out, there in lies you problem.
