I suggest the Z-5300e speakers. If you look in the description, they push a considerably larger amount of watts. That simply means louder and clearer. Just my opinion. Also, its nice to see a fellow geek on here from the Detroit area!

Forget the Creative's dude, that's messed up. 5.1 surround with 47 watts?! way too weak. I'm getting the Z-5500's from Logitech, and at Newegg they're only about $270 (suggested at $400). But if you are on a budget, get the 5300's, DEFINITELY. If you need decoders (like the Creative you're lookin at), you should probably go with the T5400's or 5800's (or even that 6.1 system, it's got some good wattage and is only $80) because they're cheap, give you better wattage, and if you need a decoder with the money you save you can afford a good Audigy 2 ZS.

I agree with mega 100%. The audigy 2ZS retail is a cheap and phenominal card. Go with that card and you'll be very happy. BTW, we were downtown this weekend bar hopping, are you familiar with 5th Avenue, The Well, Center Street Pub, etc?
