Exclamation possible sound issue with Realtek in Vista

Just to let you all know..... just done a latest upgrade from Vista updates and I lost my Audio Drivers.

There was a similar incident about a year or so ago with MCE(at least in my case) the issue seems to be with Realtek audio soundcards, so if you have one- be prepared that you may need to visit Realtek site and download the driver again for Vista.

Solution. If you have Realtek onboard simply buy a separate card for sound to avoid the hassles that many see. Even in XP for many Realtek seems to be a continuing problem at times. That would be with audio chips on the board and their drivers frequently being hard to get installed.

I've run Driver Doctor and it keeps telling me that the audio drivers are out-of-date. I download and install, but keep getting the same results.

I have on-board audio, and running VISTA Home Premium 64bit. However, sound works fine, so I am not sweating it too much

DriverDoctor is a 3rd party tool that is rather out of date itself. I wouldn't go by that alone since you can see the actual "latest" when visiting the support site. Most of the complaints heard about Realtek however is on XP not the new versions's 32 or 64 editions.
