Question What should one look for in a hard drive?

I was just wondering. Like I see things like: Average Seek Time 4.2ms Average WriteTime 4.7ms Average Latency 5.5ms for the VelociRaptor 150 gig. What does that all mean?

Average Seek Time is the amount of time it takes for the hard drive to find a specific piece of data.

Average Write Time is how long it take on average to write something to the hard drive although i am not sure of what the size of the file is.

Average Latency is how long it takes for the hard drive to respond to the command given.

Are you looking for a new hard drive?

Budget?

The main things i look for is the buffer size and the size of the hard drive itself.

How much are you willing to spend?

How much space to you think you need?
