removable hard drive and usb problem

I just bought a new, nice removable external hard drive, but it doesn't work on my old windows 2000 system for some reason. I've updated it, removed and installed it, but it still doesn't work. It says Device Manager Error Code 10, and there's a yellow exclaimation mark over the storage device in device manager. Please help.

Does it come with a cd, if it does, then you should install the drivers from it.
