Default I'm going to buy a desktop computer please help

Right now I'm looking for a decent desktop computer. I only plan to use this computer for the internet and for listening to music so I don't think I need a lot of memory but this needs to be a desktop computer because I plan to hook up my game consoles to the monitor I'm buying with it. The last computer I owned was a Dell and it lasted me for many years so I'd say I was quite happy with it. I'm thinking of buying a Dell so what kind of model would you suggest I check out? Should I check out any other brands? Thanks for the help.

Edit: I'd prefer to spend less than 400 dollars if possible.

Take a look at Hewlett-Packard, Dell and Acer brand computers. Look for computers with a Dual-Core processor. You can upgrade the RAM if needed, but if you are running Windows Vista you want at least 1.5 to 2 gigabytes of RAM. Vista requires much more memory to run efficiently than Windows XP.

I think you may have to purchase a used computer if you have a $400 price limit.

eBay or www.novatech.co.uk depending on where you are of course as doesn't say.

Hope this helps

often times when you buy the papers on the weekends, there will be fliers from bestbuy, circut city, etc. They ussually have fairly good deals. HOWEVER. I suggest you wait about 20 days, for black firday (if u live in the usa atleast), and snag a really good deal there.

I don't know why I didn't think about that. Elimin8tor is right. Wait for the sales right after Thanksgiving. You can get some sweet deals on electronics merchandise then.
