Opera is the self-proclaimed most secure (doubt it but I have used it for a few months and it works great)

Firefox 3 is a great browser also, it works with google and has a safe browsing feature that tells you when a site may be be malicious.

there shouldn't be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

In Firefox 3 in the about:config area, is there anything I could change in there that will make it more secure?

no but there are a few plugins you can download to make it more secure.

Adblock Plus
http://adblockplus.org/en/installation

NoScript
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722

those two are the most popular for keeping nasties away. Adblock doesn't protect you much but it does get rid of a lot of banner ads and stuff that could slow your browsing experience down.

Firefox 3 with some add-ons paired up with AVG for anti-virus works great!

I've used both AVG and Avast! and I prefer Avast! more. It runs in the background better than AVG. Plus it doesn't take forever to start up and download new definitions.

Many web browsers say they are the most secure. From what I seen and heard, Opera is the safest. I wouldn't worry too much, and I have Opera and Firefox. I use Firefox myself, it doesn't really matter.

Just get a firewall (if you find the Windows Firewall) not good enough, and have an Anti-Virus and a Spyware/Adware scanner/
