Default Coolermaster 690 personal review

I got my case finally after waiting about a month

These are my thoughts....

1. Awesome airflow...I have 5 x 120mm Sycthe 133 CFM fans mounted to fan controllers. Three fans are exhaust and two fans are intake. Dropped idle temp from 35c to 29c.

2. Hard drive racks are great! The best system I have seen and used...very easy and very effective.

3. Looks are great, the green side window must be seen in person to appreciate...very nice.

4. Tons of room to work, might be one of the few biggest mid towers I've ever seen.

5. The drive bay locking system is also junk. Locked my DVD drive into place and it didn't sit right, kinda tilted. The locks are only on one side......I thought the whole point was to be able to easily install items. With the locks only on one side you have to use a screw on the other side anyway. I am going to just rip those out and use screws on both sides.

6. The power and reset button system is junk. They are just chrome plastic pieces on a hinge that when pressed touch a button. I have seen better buttons on a $40 case. I am planning a mod to get rid of that crap

7. The bottom fan mount and PSU are too close together. With a fan installed it is almost impossible to attach or detach cables from PSU. At first I didn't think I would be able to put a fan there.

8. The said panels seen like they are really flimsy and not built well. The slide locking tabs at the top and bottom were all bent at a slightly different angle...I had to re-bend them.

Overall....I am happy with it but I was disappointed a little. Not as nice as I expected for the price. It looks great at night though

I still need to do some cable management work and get everything in place.

I like green on computers The cable mesh job was a nightmare. I tried to take all the connectors off and do it the right way but I would get about half of them off and the other half would be stuck!

I just did a burn on mine and temps are goooood! Only 45 minutes but temps locked in about a minute into the burn.

And with a little cable work....

I have the same case, and I absolutely love it. I agree with your complaints...but it doesn't stop me from being totally happy with it.

BTW, I recommend getting the optional side panel. Makes it look a lot better. =)
