Network question....

HI, just wondering if anyone can help me. I'm trying to get files off my old comp to put on my new comp, is it possible to connect both computers using one monitor and get files off one of them?

I have a usb/ethernet adsl modem to connect to my old comp, and onboard network on my new one.

Please help.....any help possible would be greatly appreciated...

get a crossover cable, connect the two computers, as for the monitor, just keep switching it betweent the two computers.

yes,
and share everything on 1 computer and leave it turned on and you wont need the monitor for that computer again..
