Yes, but I can go much higher on i7..

ohh and lets not forget bout my 4.6Ghz with my x48 rampage build!

No what's excessive is that I've been pumping 1.68V into the E8400 for nearly a month now and it just chugs along like...

please sir, can I have some more?

I think my cpu might be haunted, I wanted to try more but my system caps out at 1.70V and will not cycle past post

have you tried tuning the VTT, GTL, or PLL? if you set these values correctly, you might be able to take the vcore down a notch or two, or get higher clocks. and that fsb not high enough to need over 1.4v on the NB.

i've never wanted to mess with those settings, not knowing exactly what to set them at.
