Just today, i got a new Antec 900 and a Xigmatec s-1283 heatsink for my E8400. (if you want my specs just check my sig.) The chip works wonderfully up to 3.8ghz, where it seems to hit a wall. it will do 3.6ghz on stock volts, and 3.8 on only a very small voltage bump.
Now does somebody want to tell me why i can't hit 4ghz?! ![]() I have pumped 1.42V through this chip (excessive, i know... but my temps are under 65C load) but no matter what i do, Orthos or Prime95 fails within 15 seconds. i have loosened my ram's timings to 6-6-6-18 @1000mhz, which is plenty for the sticks i have. The ram is set to 2.4V as per OCZ's recommendations. I have tried changing my northbridge to 1.4V, but that made no difference either. im pulling my hair out here! i've heard of people getting to 4ghz on 1.35V easy! ![]() ![]()
