Default Help Big HDD Problems!

i'v had a HDD problem, like a HUGE one
basicly, i wanted to try something on SUSE on a 80Gb from my server, i back-up my data on to my second disk of my main computer and formated the 80Gb, installed Linux and it work fine apart, last night i wanted to put my data back onto that disk, so i put it back in me server and booted it up, BOIS saw it at full 74.xxGb (formated), once in Ubuntu server i went to places, computer and the drive wasn't there.
odd!, i put it in my main rig and it can see the full 74.xxGb but it cant initialize the drive. i have got it doing a dban format (very handy program to have ) but right now, its been running for 10 hours and its only 26.60% complete, i have run it on my 200Gb disk and its only taken about 2 hours, yet this 80Gb gonna take like 37 hours?
any thoughts???
Thanks

Could the HDD be faulty? Try running Drive Fitness Test on it;
