Default Something is wrong with my ram

A couple months back i decided to put some more ram in my computer. My computer had 1gb of DDR2 4200 ram. I put in 2gb of DDR2 5300 with that 1gb still in there. Now I removed that 1gb and thought it would go faster but cpu-z says its running at 533 not at 677. Can someone tell me how to fix this?
