Question Firefox : Unable to Highlight

I have been using Firefox for quite awhile, but recently, it seem to have lost the ability to highlight selected texts after I press Ctrl-F. I tried clicking on Highlight a few times but it still does not show, anyone know a fix for this? I have tried the firefox support forum, but it was buried so quickly that no one responded.

I have 2 questions.

1. Does the highlight function work on web pages where you may have used it before?
Because the problem might actually have something to do with the web page itself.

2. Open Firefox (or a new tab) > In the address bar type about:config and Enter > In the filter, at the top, type highlight. Will you tell us the properties of this function?

Mine says:
Preference Name: view_source.syntax_highlight
Status: Default
Type: Boolean
Value: True

My highligh function works, so if yours is not the same then you should change the properties and try. If it is the same as mine and it still doesn't work then I stumped.

I think most people use it because it is not the main target of malicious coders.

Yeah, it's less vulnerable to ad/spyware than IE
