I'm just wondering, when you're reading a thread, when you recognize other people within the forum, is it moreso because you recognize their username, or because you recognize their avatar?
For me is usually the avatar, though there are a few usernames i recognize as well. But I find that when someone changes their avatar it takes me a while to realize, oh wait, thats so and so. Just wondering...

Both, but when I start out on the forum I usually tend to learn the avatars first then put names with them. Now I know people by their user names.

I voted avatar, but that was before I saw the both-ish option

I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE CHANGE THEIR AVATARS
but since a lot of people tend to do it fairly often, i end up looking at the username if its a post i care about. Lots of times i dont really care or i simply notice subconsciously

i look at names primarily, but only because it's above the avatar, i look at both. and i hate it when people change avatars, but, it's there/my choice, so
haha. when geoff changed his it took my like five minutes to figure out who the hell it was.

On other forums, i use name mostly and avatar to help. But sometimes they change their avatars so it throws me off for a brief moment.

I'm quite proud to say that I've had my avatar for an extremly long time (years).
And it has my name in it ![]() TBH, i made the avatar in like 3 minutes as a temporary thing but never got around to changing it. I still dont like it, i would just feel incomplete if I changed it.
