Default Tape Backup

Is there any way to backup your data on a tape without needing a special tape drive connected to the computer? I mean, is there any way to convert your data to WAV, then record it to a tape using a tape recorder, and then convert it back to data? I know this is a weird question, but I like old things - guess you know what I mean. Can you provide me with a link to a software which I can use to backup files this way? I know I won't be able to backup much, but I'm just curious about it.

Thank you very much.

I don't know of any current methods, but old computers could use regular audio cassets and would load. However, don't expect to get 80G out of a tape like this

I beleive I've heard of something that uses a regular VCR to hold data... I beleive one of my friends has one, I'll ask him for a name. It's older, whatever it is, but something kinda unique if anything.

If that's true then you have just perked an interest in me with that VCR thing.

I found something, but you have to have a DV camcorder.

Oooh...I wonder if that'll work with my Digital8 camera...

Thanks for the note! I'm trying to backup My Documents right now! Seems to work too.

Thank you Tom S.! If you come here

The device is called Backer32 from Danmere. It apparently connects to your parallel port then to a standard VCR by RCA ports. Sounds like those OLD systems that I mentioned earlier. 4G per VHS tape, which wasn't bad back when it was new(around 96 )
