Default long boot up

hey guys, i installed photoshop cs3 on my comp and after i restarted it took a long time for the saving your settings screen on the shut down and a long time on the welcome screen on boot up, then after a verrrry long time on the welcome screen it spent an equal amount of time just showing me my wallpaper, no desktop icons no taskbar nothing. then the computer was acting very slow for some reason. any suggestions? can it be a virus?

If you downloaded illegally, then maybe. But photoshop is a memory hog, and it adds items to your start up log.

Are you running xp or vista, not that it makes a difference I guess. I don't know how to do this in vista, but if your running xp go to the start menu and click on run, in the popup windown type msconfig, then click ok, go to the start up tab and unclick anything that has to do with photoshop, click apply and then reboot and see if it's faster.

Are you running on a single core computer? Is it just Photoshop CS3 or something like the Web Premium, Design Premium, etc,

Overall softwares such as CS3 requires alot of memory and CPU usage. You might need to upgrade processor and add more memory.

As for it being a virus, a virus would effect everything including other programs. If you just noticed the slugishness after installing Photoshop, I would look at that as the reason.

Check your RAM. Also hit Ctl+alt+del and look at your processes working. If there are any uncesessary ones, stop them. But really check your ram.

Hmm, maybe you need to take a look into your RAM's health. . .

Ah, if it was just the session which you installed in, it probably put run once startup files to complete the installation as windows was rebooting. I spose that could have been it.

Oh well, it's working now anyway.
