Default Fried Laptop

I have a laptop that was struck by lightning, and won't turn on. Is there anything I can do to fix it, or at least attempt to do so? The computer is far out of its warranty.

have you opened it up, and check to make sure it just isn't the power cord?

Chances are, it fried the motherboard. If thats the case, and depending on the age. It probably wont be worth the fix.

Well, if the laptop is gone, what would you reccomend as a good cheap laptop to replace it? The person only uses it for everyday things like surfing the internet and checking email. Nothing really intensive.

Which would be awesome, if it weren't from ebay. The person I'm helping doesn't like to use ebay. But I will ask them and see.
