First of all, Hello to all.

I am a student, a senior but graduating 2 years early, My dad has a OLD toshiba that has been passed down to me, but it is slow and running despertly out of memory.

Also my parents will buy me a new computer when i graduate.

So my thing, is, I can probably get a $200-$300 comp first. I don't know if i want to get a local used one or what...

I want windows, i do NOT like mac

Or do i want to take my laptop to my friends dad, who owns a comp repair, and have him work on taking off things to speed up and make more memory?
any advice is great! i know nothing! thanks
also remember, i am only 16, so i don't need top of the line or anything. but it does need to be portable. Mainly it will be taken places, beat up a little, and used for essays and music... let me know. Thanks!

if i were you i would just get the old one fixed up a little bit, any computer can be decent if its serviced right...

i would just upgrade that one your getting a new one soon any way ive seen desktops on craigs list go for like 50 bucks to

Whats the specifications of your current laptop? Processor, RAM, and I assume that it's XP. . .
